Curriculum

Prerequisites

Before admission into the certificate program students must complete the “required” prerequisites listed below. Prerequisites must be taken at a regionally accredited college or university with a verified grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.00 scale (C). Courses must be completed by July 1st

 

Required Courses

  • Chemistry 3 credits,
  • Biology 3 credits, and
  • Mathematics 3 credits

These are introductory courses (not remedial) and are typically listed as 100 level classes. I like to see algebra but will accept pre-algebra for the math requirement.

 

Recommended Courses

  • English Composition, 3 credits
  • Speech Communication, 3 credits
  • Math (additional 3 credits)
  • Cultural Understanding course, 3 credits
  • Arts/Humanities minimum 3 credits or 6 credits total
  • Social Sciences, minimum 3 credits or 6 credits total
  • Life and Physical Sciences (additional 6 credits)

 

Additional Requirements

  • Access to a qualified training laboratory

For central Indiana residents requiring a lab, please contact the program office.

  • Certified HT or HTL (ASCP) to serve as your Mentor.

 

Professional Program

Paired didactic and practicum courses must be taken concurrently. Courses are offered and must be completed in sequence. Students are registered for classes in each term as follows:

Program Completion Requirements  

Satisfactory completion of 24 credit hours of professional courses. All course work must be completed in compliance with the program’s and school’s academic and professional policies.
